Dream and Reckonings

Living through a devastating global pandemic while also simultaneously witnessing the most recent installments of racial violence and  “racial reckoning,” I found myself thinking and reading a lot about grief, rage, and joy and what it is like to have to learn to hold them all at the same time.

Donney Rose has pointed out “how incredible it is for Black folks to make art & invent things & earn degrees & influence global culture & lead movements & set trends & raise families and communities, all while under the persistent threat of systematic racism, anti-Black violence and layers of inequity.” The work in Dreams and Reckonings speaks to these layered feelings and experiences.
